How to Clean Marble Countertops

how to clean marble countertops orlando
Marble countertops are commonly seen in kitchens because they’re timeless and elegant, therefore, one must know how to clean marble countertops to ensure their beauty lasts for a long time. Marble is even well-loved because it is sturdy and has a smooth surface. What can be very difficult, however, is the process of cleaning this natural stone.

Marble is brittle, porous, and especially susceptible to the acid that is contained in wine, in citrus fruits, and in several products that are used for cleaning. Spillages from and stains from pigments in known food items like curry powder and coffee may damage and cause them to corrode. For this reason, it is necessary to get rid of marble stains as quickly as possible. How then can you clean your marble countertops? Check some of the simple ways below.

How to Clean Marble Countertops: Top Tips to Remember

  1. Acidic agents can scratch the surface and can cause decoloration, so use only pH-neutral cleaning products.
  2. Take extra precautionary measures and follow the safety guidelines indicated on the label of the products that you are going to use.
  3. On a small, unobtrusive area, try on the product and cleaning procedure that you plan on using to ensure that no detrimental effects are about to happen.
  4. Once the material corrodes or discoloration occurs, take a halt on using the product promptly and ask cleaning professionals for advice about this.
  5. Lastly, to dodge yourself from spending a huge chunk of your time and money on removing stains on your marble countertops, keep your surfaces clean and regularly impose a cleaning routine to maintain their appearance and quality for a longer time. You can do this by using spray sealant at least once every month.

Not satisfied enough and still looking for more concrete ways on how to remove stains from marble countertops?
  1. DO NOT use vinegar, bleach, or Windex. One use of acidic materials such as these will crawl through the marble’s surface and will make the stone look sluggish and dull.
  2. DO NOT use harsh pads or cleaner for they can cause blemish and lacerations on the marble material.
  3. Just some mild soap and hot water can do the trick. No, you DO NOT NEED specialty cleaners. Rub the frothy water using a sponge or a soft cloth and the dirt will easily be removed.
  4. For accidental spills that cause immediate stains, you can use hydrogen peroxide. Add a few drops of ammonia. This will help dissolve the stain. But use ammonia with precaution because too much may damage the marble.
  5. For removing engravings, you may use marble polishing powder. Start by wetting the surface, sprinkle some powder, and then rub it with a buffer pad, or with a soft, damp cloth slowly.
  6. When it comes to paint stains, just use a dull razor to shave them off attentively.

While the tips above can be effective, there are some serious stains that still won’t come off. This is when you can call professionals to help you clean your marble countertops. Resealing them may also be necessary to ensure that its beauty lasts a long time.
