![]() A lot of people extend their living space to their home’s exteriors to make most out of their property. It’s quite common to see patios, porches, outdoor kitchens, barbecues, and more in Florida homes. Of course, to make your space more convenient, countertops are essential. While many already know that outdoor quartz countertops are not exactly ideal, there are still some who insist on using this natural stone material. Rightfully so, quartz is certainly an irresistibly beautiful and elegant material, which is why it looks amazing wherever you choose to install it. Quartz comes with a whole lot of benefits when used indoors. You can place quartz tops for your bathroom, kitchen, living area, and even your bedroom. When it comes to countertops you want to use outdoors, there are other options like granite countertops and other natural stone material. But if you insist on outdoor quartz countertops, it is best for you to know the pros and cons. The Pros of Outdoor Quartz Countertops As mentioned, quartz is not the most ideal material to use for outdoor countertops. However, there are still some advantages to it if you choose to do so. 1. Durable: Quartz is generally very durable. In fact, many would claim that it is just as durable as granite. It is fairly heat-resistant but you may still have to use a trivet when placing hot pans and pots on your quartz countertops. It is impact-resistant and less likely to crack compared to granite. It is mainly flexible and elastic. The polymer resin in between crushed quartz is considered shock absorbers. 2. Scratch Resistant: While it is still best to use a chopping board when preparing ingredients on your quartz countertops, it is nice to know that it takes a great deal of effort before you can scratch its surface. 3. Elegant and Timeless: You have a number of color options to choose from with quartz. Furthermore, it looks effortlessly elegant and timeless. Adding quartz countertops whether indoors or outdoors will certainly add to the value of your home. 4. Sanitary: Quartz is a non-porous material. It is easy to clean and naturally anti-microbial. It wouldn’t absorb spilled liquid all too easily. The Cons of Outdoor Quartz Countertops Truth be told, quartz countertops are not highly recommended for outdoor use. These are some of the reasons why. 1. May Require More Care and Maintenance: When used indoors, quartz is a very low-maintenance material compared to other natural stones. However, it becomes an entirely different story when it is placed outdoors. If you insist on using it outdoors, you may have to call professional contractors to help maintain its perfect look every few months, years or so. 2. May Fade Through Time When Exposed to Outdoor Elements: Prolonged exposure to sunlight, air pollution, and rain may cause your quartz countertops to fade over time. 3. Not Truly Heat-Resistant: It is fairly heat-resistant because it wouldn’t warp or melt when you place hot pans and pots over it. However, constantly doing this may cause a whole lot of damage to your quartz countertops. Quartz is quite a pricey choice compared to other natural stone materials, but the benefits you can get out of it make this option truly worth it. If you are still inclined to getting quartz countertops for outdoor areas in your home, it is best to call a licensed contractor like Stone World to help you out. The pros of this particular type of countertop outweigh the cons. I've looked closely at it, and the pros outweigh the cons.

The pros associated with these countertops significantly put weight on the cons. At least, in my experience, this has been the case.
